Family Resource Centres (FRCs)

FRCs operate a community development approach to family support. They recognise the factors that lead to social exclusion and disadvantage. FRCs work with vulnerable and marginalised families to create equality of opportunity and to ensure access to participation in society for all families.

In total, there are 107 FRCs in the country. West Training & Development is contracted by the Family Support Agency to act as Regional Support Agency to the 54 FRCs that comprise the Western Region.

FRCs are funded by the Family Support Agency under the National Development Plan 2007-2013.

Grievance Procedure Open to FRCs

In 2006, the National Forum of Family Reosurce Centres and the Support Agency Network agreed a Grievance and Monitoring Policy Document to ensure clarity relating to the roles of Regional Support Agencies and Family Resource Centres and to have a grievance procedure in place should a difficulty arise between a FRC and its Regional Support Agency.
